3 Ball Diagonal Drill

This is a simple drill to demonstrate the power of ball position as it affects shoulder orientation at address. Ball flight is then affected. This drill will not be solely responsible for “shaping” the ball on the golf course. It is merely a drill to tighten your present shot shape with the goal of hitting it straight!
Alex has placed three balls in a diagonal line, representing a “back” ball position, a “middle” ball position, and a “forward” position, about 3 inches between each ball.
He addresses the back ball, feels his shoulders adjust to a more “closed” address position to accommodate the back of stance ball. Now, his normal swing should produce a push-draw flight.
Moving forward to the middle ball, he feels a more “square” address position. With his normal swing this should produce a straighter flight than the “back” ball.
Moving forward to the forward ball, he feels a more “open” address position. With his normal swing this should produce a pull-fade ball flight.
All 3 of these shots are produced SIMPLY BY CHANGING THE BALL POSITION.
Thanks for watching – remember, if you make smart decision, smart swings, and accept the result, you can post a better score today!
